Joshua 2 tells the story of Rahab, a woman on the margins with a reputation most would avoid. But God doesn’t avoid her. He moves toward her. And through her, he weaves a scarlet thread of redemption that stretches all the way to the cross.
In this sermon, Reverend Donny Cho unpacks six gospel-rich truths from Rahab’s encounter: what you do matters, where you place yourself matters, and who you submit to matters. But most importantly, we see that salvation comes not through status or success, but by trusting in the promise of a king who saves. In Egypt, it was the blood of the lamb on the doorpost. In Jericho, it was the scarlet cord in the window. Both point to Jesus, the one true rescuer.
If you’ve ever felt like your past disqualifies you or your story is too messy to be used by God, Rahab’s story offers hope. The gospel doesn’t erase your story. It redeems it. And through the scarlet thread of Christ’s love, your life can become part of something greater.
